Still no roundabout
You may only drive into our hamlet from Calpe.
From Altea it is forbidden to turn to the Galera.

2000 meters bumping through Isla d’Altea
But the residents of La Galera de Las Palmeras are allowed to take a 2 km detour at any time via Isla d’Altea, where they can enjoy several road collapses several times a day that turn driving there into a fairground attraction.
Such a sunken road does not need speed bumps. Yet there are two speed bumps, while the subsidence in the road makes driving difficult.

Every day, the residents of the Galera bump here from the N332 (Left) to the N332 (Right).

Through traffic can flow unhindered in both directions.

657 tons of wasted fuel
Residents of the Galera have been burning at least 60 liters of fuel per day for 30 years because of the detour.
This is not only bad for the environment, but also unnecessarily expensive for every resident of the Galera.
30 years: that is equivalent to 657 TONNES of fuel (€ 1,314,000).

So we needlessly burn 13 such amounts of fuel on 2 km of bad asphalt.

No exit lane from Calpe to the Galera
For many years there has been a ban on driving towards Calpe. Coming from Calpe, traffic
travels at a speed of at least 80 km. If you want to take the exit to our hamlet, you must reduce speed on the Carretera. Then there is needless hindrance to through traffic.

It would be a relief for all road users if there were an exit lane so that other road users no longer have to brake for cars in front who want to take the exit.

No merge lane from the Galera to Altea.
As a result, you have to take the car in the direction of Altea, without being able to keep an eye on the traffic behind you.There is an insertion strip missing there:

Traffic from our neighborhood is forced to perform a life-threatening maneuver if they want to drive towards Calpe, Altea La Vella or Altea. Because they already have to park their car diagonally in the direction of Altea, the mirrors do not yet offer a view of the traffic approaching from Calpe.D

Driving towards Calpe is prohibited
It is currently prohibited to drive from Galera towards Calpe.
However:
Traffic from the Galera, wishing to head towards Calpe, would go via the Roundabout
can easily drive to the other side and wait there until they can merge safely.

Exit from Altea to the Galera.
It is currently prohibited to turn from Altea to the Galera while driving.
Then you have to detour 2 km.
But when using this roundabout, traffic can choose an exit lane and cross if it is safe.

Unequal struggle, unwillingness on the part of the government
It is a matter of mopping with the tap open and we are completely despondent because there is no prospect for board members after more than 20 years of fruitless fighting with a government that is structurally not functioning when it comes to the Galera de Las Palmeras.

It is already problematic to find people who are willing to act as chairman, treasurer or secretary of our association, because the Municipality of Altea offers no prospect of a solution to any problem.
